An at-home personal assistant helps a business professional or organization with the daily tasks of running a business. In the past, personal assistants worked from the office. The Internet has made working at home a realistic option for personal assistants. Many of the duties expected of him can be done online, while he stays in touch with his employer by phone or email.

An at-home personal assistant will schedule appointments for his boss. He will likely provide his boss with a daily agenda of any meetings or other obligations. The assistant is in charge of arranging travel for his boss. He may schedule flights, reserve hotel rooms and call for a driver when his boss requests these services.
Communication

Keeping up with her employer's communication is a fundamental duty of an at-home personal assistant. The assistant will answer phone calls for her boss. She directs urgent calls to her boss and takes messages for the rest. An at-home personal assistant will also regularly check for email messages, and answer or forward them as requested by her boss.

An at-home personal assistant may perform other clerical duties for his boss. Typing and data entry are tasks that many professionals have their assistants do for them.
