Equifax Credit Reporting

Your credit score impacts the interest rate you are likely to receive from creditors and lenders, which is why managing the information in your Equifax report is so important. Equifax offers a range of credit products that allow you to view and track changes to your credit file.

  1. Identification

    • Equifax, formerly known as Retail Credit Co., is one of the three major credit reporting agencies in the United States. The agency is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and has been in operation since 1899. Equifax offers a credit monitoring service as well as credit report and score products.

    Equifax Credit Reports and Scores

    • Equifax updates your credit reports and scores within seven to 10 business days of receiving new credit information. Most creditors report credit information on a rolling basis, so changes to your credit reports and scores are common throughout the year. If you find incorrect or incomplete information on your consumer credit report, you must submit an online or hard copy dispute form. Equifax, like the other major credit agencies, have 30 days to update your credit report and score as well as issue you a new credit report documenting the changes.

    Equifax Credit Monitoring Services

    • Equifax offers monitoring services with up to three of your consumer credit reports and scores. For example, Equifax Complete monitors your Equifax, TransUnion and Experian credit reports and issues email and wireless alerts when changes to your credit reports occur. This product allows you to track your credit score over time using a free trending feature or simulate changes to your Equifax score using an interactive score estimator. As of April 2011, the subscription price for Equifax Complete is $16.95 per month. You have unlimited access to your Equifax reports and scores.

    Equifax Score Monitoring

    • Score monitoring is only available with Equifax's Score Watch product. For $12.95 per month, as of April 2011, Equifax will track your credit score and issue email and wireless alerts when changes to your credit score occur. Score Watch provides you with a detailed explanation for score changes and helpful tips for understanding and improving your score.
