"Dream Chronicles 3" Tips & Tricks

"Dream Chronicles 3: The Chosen Child" shares a similar style of game play to the rest of the "Dream Chronicles" series. The most notable change is that dream jewels are required to open Nexus gateways to progress to new areas. A few elements of the game, such as scoring, do differ a bit from other hidden object games.

  1. Scoring

    • The final score for "Dream Chronicles 3" is determined by the number of dream pieces and gold nuggets found by the player and the time it took to complete the entire game. This is fairly standard for a hidden object game, but two additional nuances might throw some players off. The number of mouse clicks does not have any impact on your score. This makes clicking every object on the screen a more viable strategy than most similar games. In addition, the game clock keeps running when the game is paused. Players concerned about score should not leave it paused for any extended period of time.

    Items

    • The inventory system is much more intuitive than in most similar games. Any item you pick up has some sort of use. In some cases, you might not need the item until a later level, but you still need it at some point. You'll also see a number displayed next to each item in the inventory. This number indicates how many times that item needs to be used over the course of the game. There is no way to accidentally waste items.

    Player Name

    • The player name has a small impact on some of the item placement. The items are always in the same locations the first time a particular player name is used. If you beat the game and use the same player name, the item locations get shuffled slightly. Dream pieces and gold nuggets never move, but most of the puzzle items do. Although the items do not move far, you need to actively look for them to find them. If you want to avoid getting the items moved on later play-throughs, make up a new player name that has yet to be used.

    Dream Jewel Locks

    • The Nexus gateways only open with the correct combination of dream jewels. Each door has three triangles that can contain three jewels each. The top triangle shows the combination of the lock. This can be a bit confusing the first time you encounter it, but it is just a simple color puzzle. The two inserted jewels in the bottom triangles need to make the color of the same position in the top triangle. For example, if the top triangle has a purple gem in the top slot, you need to put a red and blue gem in the top slot of the bottom triangles. It does not matter which triangle has which color, just that the colors combine to form the lock combination color.
