Franklin the Turtle
-
Franklin the Turtle is a popular children's television show based on the books written by Paulette Bourgeois and illustrated by Brenda Clark. Incorporate this popular show into your birthday party plans. Use the characters of the story as inspiration for decorations, including a cake theme. Invite guests to create a Franklin the Turtle craft or to watch an episode of the television show. Use streamers and balloons in bright colors, with a heavy emphasis on green, to decorate the party venue.
Aquarium or Under-the-Sea Theme
-
An aquarium or under-the-sea themed party can be a fun and colorful way to incorporate a turtle into a birthday. Release blue and green helium balloons so they are at the ceiling of the party venue to create a water look. Use blue and green table linens, and have a small fish bowl with fish or a small turtle as the centerpiece. Pictures of sea turtles and other sea life hung on the walls will bring the theme to life. Give the birthday boy a real turtle as a birthday present.

Girlie Turtle
-
Boys and girls both like turtles. A girl who wants to incorporate a turtle into her birthday party celebration may want to "girlie" it up by adding a lot of pink accents. Use pink and green as decor colors. Streamers and balloons in those colors will do a lot to add a festive look to the party venue. Create a simple turtle outline drawing and add a pink bow to the head. This symbol can serve as the logo for your party and be used in homemade birthday banners, stationary items and even on the cake. Serve watermelon to guests to help tie in the pink and green color scheme.
Swamp Theme
-
Welcome your guests to the swamp. Many interesting creatures live in the swamp, including turtles. Decorate the party venue with green streamers hanging from the ceiling to represent the green overgrowth often seen in swampy areas. Create a sheet cake that features water, brown frosting mud and small green turtles crawling around in the swamp. Use brown and green table cloths and dinner wear and scatter small rubber turtles on tables to add to the decor (available at party and dollar stores).
