There are lots of fun ideas for school Valentine's parties.

School Valentine parties can create memories that last a lifetime. When planning a party, make sure all the children are included and none of the children feel frustrated or left out. Note dietary considerations and age-appropriateness as well. The most important part of a Valentine's Day party, though, is that all the kids have fun.

  1. Valentine Card Exchange Party

    • A valentine card exchange party is a fun way for 6- to 9-year-olds to celebrate Valentine's Day. Each child should bring cards for each classmate and a shoe box. Supply colored paper, markers, glue, glitter and stickers. After an adult cuts a slot in the top of the shoe box, the kids can decorate it to make a Valentine "mailbox." They can then deliver their valentines to each other's mailboxes.

Valentine Cookie and Cupcake Decorating Party

    • Decorating cookies and cupcakes is a delicious way for kids of all ages to celebrate Valentine's Day. Supply unfrosted sugar cookies and unfrosted cupcakes; red, pink and white frosting; and various candies and colored sugar for decorations. Take pictures of the kids with their creations to put in a homemade card to bring home. At the end of the party kids can eat the treats they decorated or bring them home to share.

    Valentine Craft Party

    • Celebrate Valentine's Day without all the sugary treats by throwing a craft party. The traditional project of cutting a heart shape out of red construction paper and gluing it to a doily is a good Valentine craft for 4- to 7-year-olds.

Another Valentine craft idea for this age group is making magnets out of Valentine-themed foam pieces purchased at a craft supply store. Arrange the pieces in a pleasing pattern, glue them together and attach to a magnet.

    Valentine Game Party

    • A Valentine's Day game party takes the focus off unhealthy snacks and puts it on thinking, moving and playing. Kids from 7- to 9-years-old enjoy a heart hunt, which is much like an Easter Egg Hunt except they look for paper hearts instead of colored eggs.

A treasure hunt is a fun game for kids 10 and over. Hide clues, each one leading to the next clue, with the last clue leading to a special prize like a Valentine pencil.
