Peppers like a loamy soil rich in nutrients and well-drained. Uniform moisture from a submersion hose is the preferred watering apparatus. NuMex pepper plants, among other varieties, grow best in hot weather. Hot, dry soil is not the ideal condition for growing peppers that are not specifically genetic to such conditions.
