Garden Room
-
A garden room pergola can be made with wood latticework which provides shade and beauty. Vines may be planted so that they grow along the pergola and provide even more shade as they cover the spaces in the latticework. Outdoor curtains may also be used on the pergola to add shade, in place of vines.
Roman Pergolas
-
Roman pergolas may have Roman columns which support the structure. They may be attached to a home or separated and placed near a pool or other garden structure. Such a design may look appropriate on a home constructed in the Georgian colonial style or Spanish colonial home. They may also look good in homes with large yards or pools.

Post and Beam Pergolas
-
Post and beam pergolas can be attached or unattached to homes. They are flat-roofed structures that, like other pergolas stand on tall, narrow beams. They also have rafters in the roof which help provide the shade. Rafters may be cut in a variety of styles including Japanese style with a biased edge, craftsman style with a straight edge, Viking style with a curved bias, among other styles.
Pathway Pergolas
-
As their name suggests, pathway pergolas are constructed to give shade to walkways in a garden or outdoor yard. They may have a roof which lets in lots of light and may serve as a structure on which vines grow. Gardens may be planted along these pergolas to give color and beauty to the structures.
