Fortunately, for those seeking protection against the changing seasons, there are organizations devoted to providing the basic necessities for survival including food, clothing, employment and housing.

The organization seeks to accomplish this through education and advocacy in the areas of economic, civil rights, health care and housing justice. Feeding America, a non-discriminatory, non-profit organization, works with local and national food assistance programs to provide nutritious meals to those who often go without the basic necessities. An application is required when seeking food stamp assistance from the organization through a program called SNAP. This gateway program designates a maximum income and financial resource limit requirement. Once the requirements are met, SNAP provides access to food banks and available emergency relief programs such as Feeding America.
