Purple Butterfly Room Ideas

A purple material butterfly can hang from the ceiling.

You can decorate any room in your home with purple butterflies. One method is to design an entire theme around the purple butterfly for a nursery or little girl's room. But if you incorporate the butterfly within a larger theme, such as a garden one, and use it as an accent, it can be used in any room of the home tastefully.

Walls

Consider the various options to transfer a purple butterfly theme on your wall. If you paint the room one solid color, such as purple to coordinate with the butterflies, or yellow to offset them, it furthers the theme. Or you could pair the two colors and create a two-tone wall effect with a purple butterfly border between the two. Design an accent wall by applying a wallpaper mural of purple butterflies, or design your own mural by using stencils or stamps to add the butterflies to the wall.

Ceiling

The ceiling becomes part of your design theme as you paint butterflies on the ceiling or make your own from purple tulle and hang them from above. Yellow netting attached to the ceiling and draped over the headboard of a bed or around a crib brings in the bright colorful purple butterflies glued to the netting. You could also make a mobile of butterflies for a crib or to hang in the corner of a dining room.

Fabrics

Butterfly print fabrics flow throughout the room. You can incorporate them into the bedding, such as in a comforter appliquéd with purple butterflies or a bed sheet and skirt with a purple butterfly pattern. Pillows in the shape of butterflies pile on the bed mixed with purple shams carrying a butterfly design or as throw pillows on a sofa. Window treatments consist of a white wooden cornice painted with a purple butterfly design and floor-length purple drapes, or thread a curtain rod with a purple print butterfly café curtain instead.

Accessories

Bring purple butterfly accessories into the room décor. Purple lampshades contain a purple butterfly glued to the top of the shade, giving the appearance of just landing, while a collection of purple butterfly pictures line one wall. A butterfly wall clock accents a decoupage tray of purple butterflies holding hair supplies on the vanity or a set of glasses in the kitchen. Butterfly drawer pulls replace the previous ones on cabinets, or drawers and a trash can receive a purple butterfly wallpaper print makeover. A white painted chair in the corner contains a set of purple butterfly wings.
