Engagement Cakes: Ideas With Rhinestones

Showcase more than the engagement ring at the party.

An engagement party is a time for celebration and a time for an elaborate cake. When ordering a cake or even creating your own cake for the happy couple, you want to embrace the celebration. A cake featuring rhinestones and sparkle can encompass the excitement of an engagement party and shock the happy couple.

  1. Ring Cake

    • There is nothing more symbolic than the engagement ring. A tiered cake with an engagement ring topper can be a good addition to the engagement party. If you have the time or skills to put forth into a carved 3-D cake, create a ring from cake and gum paste with a large poured-sugar diamond. Decorate the sides of the ring or cakes with edible sugar rhinestones to finish it off.

    Gift Box Cake

    • At an engagement party, the guests usually bring gifts. Bring the gift of a cake shaped like an elaborate gift box. Have edible sugar pearls, necklaces and rhinestones popping from the open lid of the cake.

    Monograms

    • A cake does not have to have rhinestones directly on it to be glamorous. Purchase a rhinestone monogram cake topper with the couple’s first initials or the initial of the last name they both will be sharing. Use it to top a tiered cake or even a small round cake, depending on the amount of servings you will need for the guests.

    Glamour Cakes

    • A glitz and glamour cake can sparkle at an engagement party, just like the bride-to-be’s engagement ring. Create a glamour cake with bright white fondant or frosting and a coating of edible glitter dust. Tie large fondant bows on the top and sides of the cake, and accent them with rhinestone broaches (edible or nonedible). Border a few tiers of the cake with sugar rhinestones to add a little more sparkle to the party.

    Sugar Jewel Cupcakes

    • An engagement party does not have to have a large cake. Cupcakes are just as festive as cakes and much easier to serve. Create festively colored cupcakes using buttercream and gel colorings. Top the cupcakes off with edible sugar jewels you can purchase at your local cake-decorating supply store.
