Chocolate ice cream accepts a wide range of flavors which complement it.

Chocolate pairs well with a ridiculously extensive range of foods. Chocolate ice cream is no different. An abundant mix of add-ins and toppings elevate plain chocolate ice cream from mundane to extraordinary. Experimenting with different mixtures for chocolate ice cream is almost as much fun as eating them. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Hot Pepper Chocolate Ice Cream

    • Peppers and chocolate have recently found their way onto supermarket shelves through some of the most prestigious chocolate makers in the world. To add interest to your chocolate ice cream, add cayenne pepper to the mixture when making the ice cream. Not much cayenne is necessary to allow the flavors to complement one another.

    Chocolate Peanut Brittle

    • Add chopped or crushed peanut brittle to the ice cream machine halfway through the freezing process. The taste is slightly different from chocolate-peanut butter ice cream, and provides a satisfying crunch as well. Ensure that the peanut brittle is broken up small enough so it doesn't hurt your teeth when you eat it.

    Mexican Chocolate Ice Cream

    • To make Mexican chocolate ice cream, simply add a small amount of cinnamon to the mixture before freezing. This addition pairs favorably with chopped toasted almonds as well.

    Chocolate Pumpkin Ice Cream

    • Add unsalted, roasted pumpkin seeds to the cream mixture halfway through the freezing process. When the ice cream has finished freezing, prepare sweetened pumpkin pie filling and swirl it into the finished ice cream. Avoid mixing the pumpkin pie filling completely into the ice cream, however, as it will diminish the overall taste of the mixture.
