Essexville, a suburb of Bay City, is a city in Bay County, Michigan, bordering the Saginaw River. At the time of the 2000 census, the population was 3,766 residents. Bay City State Park

About a 15-minute drive from Essexville is the Bay City State Park. Outdoor recreation provides a way to get in some physical activity. The Bay City State Park has many things to do that allow children to play and explore. Biking, fishing, swimming, wildlife viewing and cross-country skiing are some of the available activities. Rustic campsites are available for $15 a night, as of 2011, for those who want to camp. The Bay City Andersen Trail is a four-mile trail in the park that is good for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing. Along the trail are two observation towers and four observation platforms for viewing wildlife.

Kokomo's is a family fun center located in nearby Saginaw that features a wild coaster, go-karts, miniature golf, Lazer Tag and arcade games. Guests are welcome to come hungry and celebrate their birthday. Located in Bay City, Buoy 18 Miniature Golf is also a family fun center. This fun center has miniature golf, an arcade and an ice cream shop.

Delta College Planetarium

The Delta College Planetarium and Learning Center has educational and amusing shows that everyone in the family can enjoy. Movies and documentaries shown in the past have included Black Holes, Fly Me to The Moon, Earth, Moon and Sun and Becoming an Astronaut. A special event that took place at the planetarium was a Celebration of Astronomy. After watching the feature movie, guests have permission to use telescopes on the observation deck for viewing Saturn and the Moon. The planetarium also offers special events for school groups, youth groups and organizations like scouting groups. Birthday parties are available.
Fire Truck and Antique Museum

The Fire Truck and Antique Toy Museum is an activity kids of all ages will enjoy. Located nearby in Bay City, the museum houses the world's largest and most famous fire truck, the NYPD Super Pumper designed to replace 10 conventional fire trucks, in addition to 60 other motorized fire trucks. At the museum, toys of all kinds are celebrated including Tonka, Buddy L, Nylent and Hess. Race car fans are sure to enjoy the NASCAR-themed room. At the museum, students and senior citizens have special admission rates.
