Ideas for Writing Letters From Santa
Make this Christmas a holiday to remember by sending your child a letter from Santa Claus. Children love to write letters to Santa detailing their gift requests for the season, but how many get a note from the jolly elf himself in return? Write a personalized letter that lights up your child's face and keeps him smiling into the new year. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Be Prepared
-
Make Christmas even more special this year. Before dropping your child's letter to Santa in the red and green box at your local post office, read it and make a note of what she's asking for. Does she mention friends or family members? Make a note of that, too. Mirroring what your child wrote will help make Santa's return letter as detailed as possible. For example, if your child asked for a video game and mentioned her best friend's name, you might write: "I know how much you enjoy playing video games with your friend Amy, I'll do my best to bring you a good one this year."
Tying the Holidays Together
-
Sharing toys makes memories. What was your child's favorite gift from Santa last year? Lend your letter a special sense of authenticity by mentioning a favorite present from the year before by including a sentence like this: ""I was so happy to be able to give you (gift name) last year, I know you loved it!"
-
Type Your Letter or Have a Friend Write it
-
A unique signature makes your Santa letter feel more authentic. The older your child gets, the more likely he is to recognize your handwriting. Type your letter or have a friend write it for you. If you type it yourself, make the signature as different from your own as possible or have a friend sign Santa's name. Do the same thing when addressing the envelope.
Putting It All Together
-
Attach your Santa letter to a special gift to make it even more special. Personalize the letter from Santa while making it as simple as possible. Here's an example:
"Dear Emma,
Merry Christmas! I was so pleased to get your letter, and I wanted to take a little time between working in the toy shop and training the new reindeer to write.
You've been a great girl this year, and I'm so happy that you and your friend Caitlyn have enjoyed playing with the Barbie dream house I brought last Christmas. I'll try to bring you something just as special this year.
Riding my sleigh through Texas on my way to your house in Dallas is always fun, especially when I know there will be treats waiting for me like those wonderful chocolate chip cookies you and your mother made last year.
Love,
Santa Claus"
