About Intex Pools
Intex pools are exclusively above ground in type. The company manufacturing them, Intex, offers four different styles of pool. This includes a line of models that are basically just inflated along a top ring and then filled with water. The company offers its pools in specific sets that include filter pumps and an instructional DVD. Additional optional equipment includes ladders, pool covers, skimmers, vacuums and even a special salt water swimming pool system. Does this Spark an idea?

In addition to the inflatable-ring version (known as an Easy Set pool), Intex offers a metal-framed pool that's similar to older-style above ground pools. Easy Set type pools are all round in shape. As well, two different shapes of what the company calls "Ultra Frame" pools are also available; rectangular and the more traditional round. Intex says that its rectangular-shaped pools "are perfect for lap swimming and pool games."

Intex pool sizes depend on the type of model offered. Easy Set versions start at eight feet wide and go up from there, topping out at 18 feet wide. Round metal-framed pools start at 10 feet wide and can run up to 24 feet wide for a standard metal frame model. Ultra Frame versions top out at 18 feet wide, though. Rectangular-shaped pools start at 18 feet long, running all the way up to 32 feet in length.

Easy Set and standard metal-framed pools all run from 30 inches up to 52 inches deep (the former stopping at 48). Ultra Frame round models come in 48 and 52 inch deep versions, while rectangular products are all 52 inches in depth. Framed models can be larger in almost every dimension because of their structural rigidity. But they're more permanent in nature, especially in the Ultra Frame lineups, meaning they're not easily moved around or disassembled.

The company sells some pool models directly to the public through its own website. The rest are sold through through various retailers. Prices vary, with a 12 foot wide by 30 inch deep Easy Set pool going for around $80 at its website. Shipping and handling is additional. The largest Ultra Frame rectangular model (32 feet long by 16 feet wide by 52 inches deep) can be found online starting at about $1,700.
