Mother Appreciation Ideas
Mothers can and should be appreciated every day. Whether it's a small gesture, such as sending a greeting card or a quick email, or taking her out for an extravagant night on the town, it's important to let her know that you care. But you don't need to spend a lot of money to be thoughtful. Even simple and personalized gestures will be well received.
-
A Handwritten Letter
-
In the age of email and text messages, the handwritten note seems long gone. Hand write your own letter to mom on some nice stationery or a card and let her know just how much she means to you in your own words. Not only will she treasure the note, but it will also be better than anything written by Hallmark. Include special memories or inside jokes that you two might have shared.
Pamper
-
If your mother doesn't usually spoil herself, why don't you do it for her? Take her to get a pedicure-manicure combo or a foot massage and give her a well-deserved pampering. It'll make feel refreshed and relaxed and give her a confidence boost. Massages are also proven stress and pain relievers. As people age, their muscle aches and pains become more evident, so if your mom has a particularly rough day, she will appreciate this even more.

Housework
-
For most mothers, housework is one of life's major annoyances. Do your mother a favor by taking care of the household chores. While you spend the day doing the laundry, washing the dishes, vacuuming and scrubbing the bathroom, let her relax and watch television or send her out for the day. If you're averse to doing it yourself, you can always hire a maid for the day. Either way, your mother will be blown away by the gesture.
Homemade Meal
-
Growing up, your mom was responsible for providing you with a delicious home-cooked meal every night. Return the favor by cooking her a gourmet meal that she will love. A freshly prepared three-course meal would make anyone feel appreciated, including mom. Be mindful of her eating habits and any special diet restrictions. You want her to be able to delight in everything you prepare. Bonus points if you surprise her with a meal. She won't be expecting it, but will be so appreciative.
Flowers
-
Flowers are a safe bet for nearly any occasion. Bright, cheery flowers, such as daisies and sunflowers, are likely to perk up any mood, and a good choice if you've forgotten your mom's favorites. For something that lasts a little longer, get your mom flowering plants, such as an azalea bush or an amaryllis flower. If she has a green thumb, she can plant them in her garden later.
