What Steps to Take to Skype
Skype is an Internet-based program that allows users to call other users using Voice over Internet Protocol technology. Some of Skype's more advanced features allow users to have face-to-face conference calls and make international calls. Skype is a free program and setup is quick, often taking only a few minutes.

Download Skype

The downloaded application allows you to make and receive calls from your computer. For information on downloading Skype, visit Skype's website at skype.com.

Once you've downloaded and opened the Skype application, you must create a new account. To create a new account, click the link on the main page of the Skype application. Enter the required information, such as username, password and email address. You must also review and agree to the Skype End Users License Agreement before moving ahead.

To begin calling or chatting with other Skype users, you must add contacts to your list. Search the Skype directory for contacts using full names, Skype names or email addresses. Once you've download the Skype application, created an account and added contacts, you're ready to start calling and chatting with your contacts. Click on a contact from your contacts list and click the speech bubble icon to start a chat or the phone icon to place a call to that person. Once you're comfortable with how Skype operates, you can begin using more advanced features such as video calling, calling mobile and land line phones, and making international calls.
