When hosting a neon or glow-in-the-dark party, do not forget to include a few glow stick games. Games give your party guests a chance to mingle, make new friends and win prizes. With several glow sticks, a few supplies and a creative imagination, you have all you need to create games for your guests. Awarding the winners with glow items, such as necklaces and bracelets, encourages them to play along.
Glow Stick Volleyball
Play a game of glow stick volleyball by placing an activated glow stick inside a white balloon. Divide the players into two teams and hang up a volleyball net. Use the same rules as volleyball; the first team to reach 15 points wins the game. For a variation on this game, have the teams hold large beach towels. They must use the beach towels to catch and serve the glow stick balloon over the net.
Glow Stick Tail Tag
Tie a glow stick onto a plastic string and hang another one from the back of each player's waistband. Tie the strings loosely, so the glow stick easily comes off when another player tugs on it. When you say, "Go," the object is for the players to try to take the other players' glow sticks but avoid having their own taken. As a player loses his glow stick, he is out of the game. The last player with a glow stick hanging from his back waistband is the winner.
Glow Stick Scavenger Hunt
Hide several glow sticks in the yard at night or inside in a dark room. Place black butcher paper on the windows when playing inside so the room is dark. When hiding the glow sticks, make sure that part of the glow stick is showing for easier hunting, or hide them completely for a more challenging hunt. Give each player a favor bag and have her hunt for glow sticks. The player who finds the most wins the game and a prize. You can also add a star to one of the glow sticks and the player who finds it wins a prize, too.
Glow Stick Flying Disc Throw
Tape a glow stick to several flying discs using clear tape. Give all the players five minutes to practice throwing the flying discs. Play this game at night and outline the play area with several glow sticks for added decoration. Mark a standing line and have the players line up with their flying discs. Each player has three chances to throw them as far as he can. Mark the player's longest distance. The one who throws the farthest from the standing line wins the game and a prize.
