Birthday Preparation Ideas
A big part of throwing a successful birthday party centers on preparing for the celebration. You must plan for everything for the party --- from making a list of the guests to determining how you'll entertain your guests. If you've properly prepared for everything you need, you'll plan a birthday party where everyone will have a good time. Does this Spark an idea?

Preparing Invitations
-
You can send invitations for a birthday party in several ways. The traditional way is to buy birthday cards you can either mail or give to each of your guests. Alternatively, send birthday invitations electronically: Send evites, or electronic invites for free from websites such as Pingg and eVite, or you can send invitations by email. For an extremely simple way of inviting people to a party, send a text message to everyone you'd like to invite.
Preparing Decorations
-
Prepare decorations for your birthday party by first coming up with a theme and then buying decorations to suit the theme. Decorations may include items such as tablecloths, plates, streamers and balloons. If you don't want to spend a lot of money on decorations, you can always make the decorations yourself or use what you already have. For example, if you have a dinosaur theme for a child's birthday, you can draw and cut dinosaur footprints and stick them on walls or create a centerpiece for tables with plush dinosaur toys.

Preparing Food and Drinks
-
Some of the food you can prepare for a child's birthday party includes mini sandwiches, mini pizzas, cheese sticks, juice, ice cream cups, popsicles and cupcakes.
Older kids might want pizza, burgers or hot dogs and soda, fruit punch, chips and dip and nachos. Other foods you can serve include hot wings, tacos and pasta.
For an adult's birthday party, prepare a salad, an appetizer platter, different entrees and side dishes; if you desire, provide alcoholic beverages. Of course, a birthday party wouldn't be complete without a birthday cake, and birthday parties often have a themed cake. Adults can have themed birthday cakes too, but you can choose from other desserts including key lime pie, cheesecake, chocolate mousse or a tropical fruit pie.
Preparing Activities
-
Make a list of all the games kids can play at a birthday party. Some traditional games you can play include relay races, musical chairs and pin the tail on the donkey. However, you might want to learn new games to keep the kids entertained. Don't forget to buy the prizes for the games' winners. Aside from games, you can also prepare a craft station where kids can create different kinds of crafts, or have a face-painting station.
Activities for older kids might be to celebrate a birthday in an entertainment venue such as in a place where they can hit a few baseballs in a batting cage; play laser tag, paintball or mini golf; or ride go-karts.
Adult parties can have games too, such as icebreakers and drinking games. If you don't want to play games, you can prepare a toast for the celebrant; have someone come in and give a lesson on a particular activity, such as a cooking lesson; or plan for live entertainment, such as a band. Older celebrants will probably enjoy a simple presentation by grandchildren, such as a song or dance number.
