Fundraising Ideas Such As Lemonade Stands

Lemonade stands are great, but there are other ways to raise money.

Lemonade stands are a classic way to raise money for a school, charitable organization or event. There are many other simple ideas, however, that can work equally well for children and teens. Make your fundraiser successful, satisfying and fun by finding an activity that encourages people to donate while giving them something they love in return.

  1. Bake Sale

    • Organize a bake sale in the same way you would a lemonade stand. Set up a booth at your school, an event or on the street outside your house. Bake cookies, brownies, cupcakes or other goodies. If you don't know how, ask your parents for help. Ask friends to contribute with their own baking. Set up the food at the stand and set prices that help you raise money and encourage people to buy your products.

    Car Wash

    • This idea works best for teenagers rather than small children. All you need is a hose, a bucket, some liquid soap and some sponges. Set up shop next to your school or near your home. Make signs that say "Car Wash" and the price you charge. Have people hold the signs as cars drive by. When one stops, use the sponges to wash the car with soapy water. Use the hose to rinse the car. Make it more fun by playing music while you wash.

    Craft Sale

    • Raise money by using your creativity. Plan when you want to have your craft sale and spend the weeks leading up to it making bracelets, necklaces, charms and small toys. Use you imagination and ask friends to contribute. Advertise your craft sale at school and to your parents' friends. Decide in advance what you will charge for each item. Set up a table at your school (with permission from a teacher) or outside your home.

    Fortune Telling

    • Give the public a fun experience while raising money. Set up a table with a sign that says "Fortune Telling" and the amount you would like to charge. Use a soccer ball as your crystal ball. Tell fortunes by waving your hands around the ball and gazing into it. Make up funny fortunes for people such as "You will be the inventor of a new kind of hot dog" or "You will inherit a fortune but lose it all on a bet."
