Most Venus flytraps are red, but may also come in purple, green or burgundy. Regardless of the variety that you choose, the color will change according to the season, sunlight exposure and food that it receives. Venus flytraps can be fun to grow, particularly for children. Does this Spark an idea?

Typical Venus Flytraps

The most common variety of Venus flytraps have a yellow-green leaves and a pinkish red or deep red trap mouth. They typically grow traps that are 2 to 3 centimeters long.
All-Red Venus Flytraps

The all-red Venus flytrap has red pigmentation throughout the entire plant. Both the leaves and trap mouths are a brownish red described as a rich chocolate color. This type of Venus flytrap is known as Royal Red or Akai Ryu.

Wide Mouth Venus Flytraps

Wide mouth Venus flytraps are a very deep red color that may appear almost purple or burgundy. This type of Venus flytrap is known not only for its color, but for the enlarged size of the trap mouth.
All Green Venus Flytraps

The all green Venus flytrap has the same yellow-green pigmentation in both the leaves and trap mouths. The inside of the trap mouth tends to be a little more brown than the rest of the plant, but other than this has very little color variation.
