Animal Costumes

An animal costume can be created with face paint using a few matching clothing items and a pair of costume animal ears. Draw a pink nose and black whiskers on your face for a simple cat or bunny costume. Create a tiger look by using alternating black and orange makeup with white around the eyes and mouth. For a dog's face like a beagle or a terrier, use white around your mouth and the bridge of your nose, make the tip of your nose black with black whiskers and put dark brown around your eyes.
Scary Costumes
-
Face paint is often the basis of any good horror costume. Draw in a simple trickle of blood down the mouth for an instant vampire costume. Wear a black hood and paint a white skull on your face to be death. Ask a friend to help paint monstrous eyes over your eyelids so that you look creepy and sinister when you close your eyes. Give your face a pale, sickly tint and add gruesome features like flesh wounds for an easy zombie costume.

Fantasy Costumes

Face paint can be used to portray the creatures that inhabit fantasy worlds. Wear a shiny dress and use glitter around your eyes and cheeks and draw curlicues, butterflies and other whimsical designs for a fairy costume. Wear golden or silvery makeup to add a heavenly glow to a simple angel costume. Even famous fantasy characters can be created easily with makeup. Draw a lightning shaped scar on your forehead and a pair of glasses around your eyes for a quick Harry Potter costume.
People and Professions Costumes
-
With a few appropriate clothing items and props you can use face paint to look like a number of different people and professions. Use a makeup pencil to add wrinkles to your face to dress as an older version of yourself or draw on zits and wear big glasses to be a nerd. Wear colorful makeup in a fun, exaggerated design for a clown costume or paint your face black and white to be a mime. Draw on a big curly mustache for an easy chef costume or simulate a dirty face to be a hobo.
