Asian-Themed Fundraiser Ideas
Fundraisers are used to raise money for an organization or cause, ranging from local school groups to AIDS prevention in Africa. No matter what your cause is, you can incorporate an Asian theme into your fundraiser. This can be done through an Asian dinner presentation, silent auction, yoga session or martial arts showcase.
-
Dinner Presentation
-
Asian cultures are known for their food. Charge a fee and create an Asian food buffet to feed the guests. You can either choose food from a specific Asian region, such as Japan, Thailand or China or you can provide an array of Asian foods. You can also ask local restaurants to donate food. This will help the restaurants advertise while raising money for your organization.
Silent Auction
-
A traditional fundraiser idea is to hold a silent auction. To incorporate an Asian theme in your silent auction, get Asian items donated to be auctioned off. These items could include dinner for two at a local Asian restaurant, tickets to an Asian play or museum exhibit or handmade Asian jewelry. If you want to include big-ticket items in your silent auction, you could auction off a silk kimono, piece of famous Asian artwork or even a trip to Asia. Larger ticket items may be harder to come by as donations, but these items could bring more money in for your cause.

Yoga Session
-
Yoga originated as a way of life taught through the Vedas, traditional texts of Hinduism. Hinduism has been practiced in Asia for centuries. Ask a local yoga studio to donate a class for your fundraiser. You can either have the class taught at the studio, or ask for it to be taught at a different location. Invite guests to join you for a yoga session. Ask guests to donate a suggested amount toward your cause or organization for the yoga session. If you don't have a designated list of guests you would like to invite, ask the yoga studio to hold an open session and donate a portion of the session fee to your organization. You can advertise the open session on your organization's website as well as in the local paper. This will help bring in money from people you may not have had contact with before that have a passion for or want to help your cause.
Martial Arts Showcase
-
Different types of martial arts are traditionally practiced in Asia. Sports based on traditional Asian martial arts, such as karate, jujutsu and mixed martial arts (MMA), are practiced all over the United States. For a fundraiser, set up a martial arts showcase to be held at a local venue. Contact local martial arts studios to see if they would like to bring a group to represent their talents at your event. These groups can range from beginners to experts. Strive to get about six groups to commit to perform at the fundraiser. Invite guests to come watch the showcase. Advertise your event as a fundraiser. You can either charge a designated amount for tickets to the event or just let individuals decide how much they would like to donate.
