Venetian Glass Crafts
On the island of Murano in Venice, Italy, the art of glass blowing goes back to the Renaissance. The superior quality, the clarity of the colors and the variety of shapes of the hand-blown glass allow artists to create jewelry, mirrors, picture frames, furniture and gowns with beautiful designed trains. The glass blowers had the artist in mind when they designed easy-to-work-with beads, tile and mosaic tiles.

Jewelry
-
Glass jewelry beads come in teardrops, rounds, cubes, rectangles and squares -- and in every color of the rainbow. String a hollow bubble bead on a gold or silver chain or do a row of bicone beads. Either way, they create a necklace worth showing off to friends. Add some teardrop earrings and a bracelet to make a complete set. The pendants create such a blend of colored glass that all they need is a nice chain.
Mirror and Picture Frames
-
Glue some glass tiles or mosaic tile with some flat Venetian glass on a frame. Try placing mosaic tile around a mirror to freshen up a bathroom or use it to give a dining room mirror a Mediterranean or Spanish look. Dress up a small picture frame with the glass stones that have a smooth top and a rough back so they will stick to a smooth surface.

Furniture
-
Install a stain glass mural in the center of a table using Venetian glass tile. Or put a mosaic scene on a coffee table for a long-lasting, scratch-free top. Use the tile in small pieces to create an accent. The 3/8-by-3/8-inch tiles come in a variety of colors and blends. The tiles have a textured back to hold adhesive. The glass is easy to cut into small pieces with tile or glass nippers.
Formal Gown and Train
-
Trim a formal gown with the colorful Venetian beads. Venetian glass, with its many clear colors, is ideal to outline and fill in a family crest for a king's train at a local celebration that requires a long, elaborate train. The easy-to-work-with beads can be sewed or glued on to make realistic flowers that shine under the lights of a stage. Or sew the clear beads down the back of a wedding dress to give it an extra sparkle.
