    • The family-friendly Memphis Zoo (memphiszoo.org) has a children's farm with miniature domesticated farm animals, including rabbits, cattle, chickens, pigs and goats. Kids can burrow through an underground tunnel into pop-up prairie dog holes; take a scenic train ride and tour barns, a gristmill and water wheel, and a windmill. Kids can also watch demonstrations of weaving, blacksmithing and canning. The zoo has hundreds of animals to see, including Komodo Dragons, grizzly bears and big cats. See daily feedings of polar bears, penguins and elephants, and watch the sea lion show. The zoo is nine miles from Bartlett.

    The Children's Museum of Memphis

At the WaterWORKS exhibit, kids can build bridges and experiment with the flow of water; at Kid's Market, children can pretend to shop for healthy food. In Playscape Park, for ages 0 to four years old, little kids can climb, crawl, slide and put on a puppet show. Kids older than four can climb the vertical Skyscraper maze.

    Shelby Farms Park Conservancy

    • Shelby Farms Park Conservancy, (shelbyfarmspark.org) six miles from Bartlett, opened the The Woodland Discovery Playground April 8, 2011. The playground features six themed play areas, and special ADA play elements for children of every age and ability. The stables offer horseback riding, with trail rides for those at least eight years old. Rent a paddleboat, canoe or kayak from the Boathouse, hike the trails, or take older kids biking or inline skating.

    Golf & Games Family Park

    • Golf & Games Family Park, in Bartlett, has miniature golf, an arcade and go karts. The batting cages, roller coaster and laser tag are good for teens and tweens. There are also bumper cars, an arcade and a Sky Trail Ropes Course. Funland has three kiddie rides: a train and two carousels. The family-friendly park also has a picnic pavilion and a Golf Academy for kids and adults.
