Simple Adult Birthday Games
There are lots of party games for children, but it can be difficult to come up with adult games to pass the time at a birthday party. Trivia Games
-
Trivia games can add a healthy dose of competition to the party. Players can work individually, but it might be more fun to split the party guests into teams so a real rivalry can begin. Trivia questions can be found online or as part of board games or video games. Add a custom touch to trivia games by writing questions about the party guests or the guest of honor. For example, create a bank of questions such as "What is the guest of honor's favorite food?" The most right answers, as verified by the guest of honor, can win some sort of prize.
Theme-Based
-
Consider the theme of your event when planning the activities for your adult birthday party. For example, if your party had a luau theme, you could play a tropical version of horseshoes. In this game, each player can take turns throwing decorative floral leis around a pole or a hula dancer figurine. The person who lands the most amount of leis wins. If the party theme is "murder mystery," designate one player as the victim and another as the murderer by anonymously passing out scraps of paper. After the staged murder, each player can use her creativity to explain why she is not the killer. After the cases are pleaded, players can guess who the real killer is.

Drinking Games
-
For a more raucous birthday party, alcohol drinking games can really get the evening started. One idea for a drinking game is "Never Have I Ever." Players go around listing items that they have never done, such as "been to the Grand Canyon" or "owned a pet iguana." If someone has done this thing, the player must take a drink. Another drinking game is based on pop culture. For example, you could watch a television show. Each time a main character uses a popular catchphrase, everyone playing has to take a drink. You can set different ground rules that indicate how many sips or chugs should be required for each occurrence on the show.
Board and Card Games
-
Board games and card games are not only classic for most celebrations, they make excellent icebreakers for parties where not too many people know one another. For board games, Monopoly, Boggle, Trivial Pursuit, Life and Scrabble are favorite party standbys. For card games, try classic games such as gin rummy, go fish, old maid, pinochle and bridge.
