Art Festival Jobs
Securing a job at an art festival offers you the opportunity to earn cash while pursuing your artistic interests. Because festivals run for a short duration, many art festival jobs are temporary, seasonal jobs. However, management positions or positions that require overseeing an operation may start a few months before the festival officially begins, and may even offer a full-time schedule. Jobs at an art festival can range from entry-level to senior level, and cater to a whole myriad of backgrounds and personalities.

Production Crew
-
Production crew members are responsible for specific aspects of production such as lighting and sound. If the art festival is large in scale and features artists, a company manager is needed to act as a liaison between the artists and the festival. The company manager organizes transportation, accommodations and visas for artists performing at the festival. At times, the company manager will double as a stage manager. A stage manager calls the lighting and sound cues for each show, and communicates with every crew member working on an artist's show. A light board operator operates the lighting board during a show, and a sound board operator runs the sound equipment for a show. Other production crew jobs include assistant stage manager, run crew and festival videographer.
Administration
-
Positions in administration usually involve overseeing a specific department such as marketing, communications or development. Directors of marketing, communications and development lead teams in their respective departments and facilitate the growth and legacy of the festival. Individuals who apply for director positions should be experienced, mid-level to senior-level professionals. Coordinators and assistants comprise the junior level of administration, and directly support the directors with administrative duties and errands. They may also direct and supervise large groups of volunteers.

Hospitality
-
People who hold jobs in hospitality at art festivals satisfy the needs and improve the experiences of artists, staff members and festival-goers. Artist drivers provide transportation via festival-rented shuttles, golf carts and other transportation vehicles, and help load and unload luggage. Drivers may also be expected to pick up artists from airports. An audience services team member manages the box office and oversees house management during shows. Other hospitality jobs include ushers, greeters and child care associates.
Volunteer
-
Although there are paid positions at an art festival, the majority of the art festival is dependent on volunteers. Volunteers can work in areas such as food and beverage, artist services, hospitality and production. Some responsibilities volunteers might have are setting up stages, breaking down stages, pouring sodas and wine, running art booths, handing out promotional materials and informing festival-goers of the day's events.
