"Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare" has a hidden cheat menu that players can use to obtain special game play features. Enabling the cheat menu requires the player to change the start menu game. Find the game under the C drive on the computer and change the file to "C:\Program Files\Infogrames\Alone in the Dark\alone4.exe" wizardmaster. The word "wizardmaster" must be outside the quotations for the cheat menu to be enabled. Changing the program file to "alone4.exe" also removes the start-up menu when the game is loaded.

Once the cheat menu is loaded, a player can select a few cheats. The "Goto" cheat allows the player to warp to different locations during the game. This can be useful in the last sections of the game when the character Aline must change rooms quickly. The warp feature is not always beneficial because it can place the characters in rooms that require keys to get out and the character may not yet have them.

Players can access two health cheats, infinite health and infinite medikits, from the cheat menu. Using the "Godmode" cheat will give the player's character infinite health, so the character will not need any medikits during the game. The cheat "Medikits" will give provide the player's character with an infinite amount of medikits to restore health throughout gameplay.

The "WRInf" listed in the cheat menu will provide the character an infinite amount of weapon reloads. Using this cheat will allow the player's character to reload a weapon, even if the game screen shows no ammo available for the weapon.
Saves

"Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare" only allows players to save progress in the game when the player's character has the "charm of saving." Play as the character Carnby for this cheat. Leave the manor and meet the character Edenshaw, a cut scene will play at this time. Edenshaw will provide Carnby a "charm of saving." Immediately save the game after the cut scene plays, which will then provide the player four saves. Repeat the process to get as many saves as needed.
