Hollywood celebrities know some of the best tricks for losing weight, conquering cravings and staying in shape -- because it's an important part of their job. Not only do celebrities want to look great for movie roles, they also want to feel confident when they attend award shows, movie premieres and other red carpet events with a slew of photographers waiting to photograph them. Some Hollywood weight loss methods involve extreme dieting, but many celebrities also choose to stay slim by eating healthy and exercising.

  1. The Master Cleanse

    • The "master cleanse," also known as the "lemonade diet," is very popular in Hollywood. On this diet, you must drink a mixture of maple syrup, cayenne pepper, lemons and water for a minimum of 10 days. You cannot eat any other food while on this cleanse and you can only drink salt water or laxative tea in addition to the lemonade mixture. The lemonade both nourishes and cleanses your body while the tea and salt water flush out toxins. This diet is effective for cleansing and detoxifying the body -- but most celebrities use it to shed a large amount of weight very quickly.

    Colonic Irrigations

    • Colonic irrigations are common in Hollywood. During a colonic irrigation, your entire colon is filled up with water that you must hold for as long as possible. Once you feel a dire urge to have a bowel movement, you will release the water, thus cleansing out your colon and emptying years of built-up toxins from your body. Because you are releasing so much backed-up fecal matter, your colon will reshape and your stomach will protrude less.     Raw Food Diet

    • Raw foods are very popular among celebrities and there are many restaurants in Hollywood for those who eat a raw food diet. On this diet, you can only consume raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains and sprouts. Raw foods are never heated at a temperature higher than 118 degrees Fahrenheit. There are substantial health benefits to eating a raw food diet. Besides losing weight, raw foods also lead to clearer skin, fuller hair and more energy because of a natural enzyme called lipase that is found in raw foods. According to Alan Ross at RawFoodLife.com, lipase not only breaks down and dissolves fat throughout the body, it also eliminates the toxins that cause bad skin, lack of energy and the malfunction of organs.

    Veganism

    • Those who eat a vegan diet abstain from all foods containing any form of meat or dairy. No animal products of any kind are eaten on a vegan diet, including eggs, chicken and fish. Many doctors agree that a vegan diet offsets obesity and many who adopt this diet find this to be true. There are several vegan restaurants in Hollywood. In fact, veganism is so popular in Hollywood that most traditional restaurants have vegan menu selections. On a vegan diet, you will shed pounds and improve your health.

    The Celebrity Fit Club Diet

    • Celebrity Fit Club is a lifestyle approach to maintaining a healthy weight through diet and exercise. Many celebrities use this program, which was created by Dr. Ian Smith, to lose weight and change their eating and exercise habits.
