Inscription Advantages
Inscription is a profession that was introduced in "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King." Players who train in the Inscription profession, known as scribes, are able to create glyphs, which increase the power of particular spells and abilities. Inscription mills herbs to create ink. These inks are used to create glyphs, armor enchants, scrolls and off-hand weapons.

Shoulder Enchants

Scribes receive recipes to increase the stats of their shoulder armor slot at Level 80 and Level 85. These enchantments are only available to players with Inscription for a relatively low cost. Other players must obtain high reputation status with a particular faction to buy shoulder enchantments. Those enchantments take a long time to earn, cost significantly more money and have much lower stats. Inscription offers four different shoulder enchants: one for each player specialization.
Glyphs

All players are able to buy glyphs from the auction house. Glyphs that are in high demand are very pricey. Scribes are able to create their own glyphs. If a Scribe creates a new character, they can skip the very expensive process of buying their new character all of the glyphs they need, instead finding the materials and creating it themselves.

Darkmoon Cards

Scribes are the only players able to create Darkmoon Cards. Darkmoon Cards come in several different varieties. Once all of the cards in a specific variety are collected, they can be organized into a deck. This deck is turned into the Darkmoon Faire when they come to town. Some of the best trinkets in the game are obtained through this method. Turning in Darkmoon Cards is the only way to reach exalted reputation with the Darkmoon Cartel, which is required for "The Insane" title.
Off-Hand Weapons

Scribes can create weapons for spell-caster classes. Only players with a high enough Inscription skill can use the item. If Inscription is leveled concurrently with leveling up your character, these off-hand weapons can be highly useful. Your weapon will always be replaced throughout the course of leveling up.
