Work from home to save money on gas and to stay at home with your kids. One income families are scarce nowadays as housing prices rise, but wages barely budge. If you are looking to work from home, there are plenty of opportunities available. The Internet has opened up a wide variety of work-from-home jobs for those looking to telecommute and make a decent income.
If you have an excellent phone voice and polite demeanor you can provide customer service from your home. This includes in-bound and out-bound calls, tech support and working as a call center representative. Many companies around the world offer customer service jobs from home both for those experienced and at an entry-level. Depending on the company and the job, you may need an appropriate educational background and some phone or customer service experience.
Those with a background in tutoring, education or with high skill levels in a variety of subjects may consider tutoring as a home-based job. This may include working online with students through instant messaging and live whiteboard programs or by having the students come to your home. Look for agencies offering tutoring jobs both online and in person with an adequate hourly rate, usually paying between $10 and $15 an hour. A college education or passing an assessment to show your abilities and strengths is often required.
Graphic Artist/Web Developer
The Internet has opened up job opportunities from home, including web developing and web graphics. Develop web pages for your clients, create web graphics such as banners, backgrounds and buttons for web pages, and make logos or business cards. The required skill levels vary; offer a portfolio of your work to prospective clients to demonstrate your capabilities. Ask for business from friends and family members if you are just starting out.
Medical transcription is a high paying work from home job for the trained individual. This field is competitive, therefore you will need to provide a resume outlining your credentials. Medical transcription involves listening to dictation from doctors and transferring what you heard into text.
Writing and editing jobs are available online, but print jobs are also available. Assemble a portfolio featuring your recent articles, reviews, short stories and blog posts. Have a resume available, hard and soft copy versions, and provide an online portfolio through a service such as LinkedIn. Available writing jobs include providing articles for online magazines, news and content websites, blogs and for product reviews. Copywriting, ghostwriting and editing are related opportunities to pursue.
