Battleship games offer strategic and tactical options to gamers who enjoy military and naval war games. Some are very simple, such as the children's game "Battleship," while others are extremely complex and attempt to recreate historical naval battles with miniatures on a very detailed level. In between those extremes are card games, online Flash games, board games and video games.

The classic game for this genre is the Hasbro board game, "Battleship." Players have a field on which they place their naval ships. They try to find the other player's ships by calling out coordinates.
"Naval Thunder: Battleship Row" is a newer board game, published in 2009 by Steel Dreadnought Games. It is a sea combat game using miniatures based on World War II historical combat.
"The Bismarck" is a ship-to-ship two-player game that recreates the battle between the Bismarck and the HMS Hood, two battleships that fought on May 23, 1941 during World War II.

"Naval Battles" is a card game for two to six players. It's a fast-paced game that typically lasts about a half hour. Each player commands a fleet of ships and can play action cards or ship cards to attack the fleets of the other players.
Avalon Hill published a simple, straightforward card game involving battleships and other naval ships called "Naval War." Cards include ships, guns and action cards.

Battleship games are available as Flash and other games at several different Internet sites. Most offer the games for free. The site BattleshipGames.net specializes in battleship games, from an online version of the classic Hasbro game to real-time shooters and simple strategic naval war games. Miniclip offers a puzzle-style battleship game called "Battleships: General Quarters."
Wyrdysm Games offers a real-time strategy game in the science fiction genre called "Battleships Forever." Players run a fleet of warships in space and do battle against other fleets.

The classic Hasbro "Battleship" game is available for most hand-held systems, PCs, Wii, Xbox and PlayStation.
LEGO has also released a Star Wars game called "Battleship Resolute: LEGO Star Wars III Video Strategy" for Xbox. It focuses on the battleship from the "Clone Wars" television series in the Star Wars world.
A historical battleship game available as a video game is "Battlestations: Midway." The hero of this game is Henry Walker, a recruit at Pearl Harbor. The game recreates the naval battles in the Pacific campaigns of World War II. It is available for Xbox 360 and PC Windows.
