Ideas for Retirement Gag Gifts
Retirement is a time for celebration, but the thought of getting old is looming in many people's minds. It is a symbolic period for leisure, boredom, reflection and a look into what might come. Poking fun at the inevitable old age of your coworker by giving her a gag gift is a timeless classic.

Retirement Office Hours
-
A sign depicting the office hours of a retired person can be funny. At the top of the sign will be written "Office Hours." Underneath, you can add when the person will be doing some of his regular activities such as golfing from Monday to Friday. Then on the weekends he could be fishing. You could put in one of those days "Open at 11 a.m." This could allude to the fact that he won't have to get out of bed until late morning.
Retirement Fund Cash Box
-
Retirement is often a time when some people don't have a lot of money. Giving a retirement fund cash box could be a priceless joke. You could include on the top a sign, "Donations are greatly appreciated," or "My work pension only gave me enough to get by for six months." Put in the cash box a coupon for a free hearing aid.

Retirement Home
-
A retirement home doormat can be a funny age gag. A home motto written underneath the welcome sign could say "More husband, less money." The name of the retirement home could be "Denture Estates." Give an assortment of gifts that are only used by elderly people. While retirement doesn't necessarily mean that he is old, you could play on this idea by giving him denture adhesive or other items such as a cane, a disabled parking permit or a magnifying glass.
Bee Gees T-Shirt
-
Have a Bee Gees t-shirt specially made that says on it "Stayin' Alive," the title of the band's 1978 disco hit. If you are throwing a party, you could play the "Stayin' Alive" song, as the retiree enters the room. Wheel him on to the dance floor in a wheelchair.
