Being "funny" comes easier to some people than others and few things seem more awkward than forced humor. We are all capable of humor and appreciating it; it just takes practice to allow it to come across naturally. If you have a tough time with humor and are asked to speak persuasively on a humorous topic, pick a viewpoint that you can actually see yourself arguing or tie it in with your own personal experiences.

If there was ever a sport with no objective, it is bungee jumping. Does it really qualify as a sport? There is no finish line, speed requirement or desired level of fitness. Unlike jumping out of an airplane with a parachute, you do not have time to experience the view nor does it train you for an emergency, such as airplane failure. If the bungee breaks and you fall into the net, is that not something you could have just done in the first place? Fill up your speech time with a history of bungee jumping, it's "heyday" and whether its popularity has declined as others may reach the same conclusion -- it's pointless!

"Cougars" Should be Guest Speakers in Health and Sex Education Classes

Real-world experience could be valuable in sex education classes.

These women know it all. They became cougars by virtue of granting their experience to younger men, imparting knowledge and eliminating future "trial and error" in relationships. They can also take girl-talk to a higher level, passing on valuable tips about what to expect from men of all ages. It could prevent heartache and save relationships. Inviting prostitutes would be too controversial, and even the best sex therapists may lack real-world experience.

Drunken Social Media Posts Should be Compiled and Used as Textbooks

Let others learn from unfortunate social media posts.

While true we learn from our mistakes, we would rather learn from the mistakes of others. We live in a world of shortcuts; productive work might actually increase if we eliminate some of the unnecessary social media posts. Point out how people really do have no recollection of their drunken posts the next day. Unlike making amends to just one person, you are now in a position of making amends to friends of the friend, and perhaps even to non-friends. On the other hand, if you have too many friends, this could be just the solution.

Bring Back Party Telephone Lines

Party telephone lines offer efficient, low-tech communication.

With talk about cutting U.S. postal services, the time could not be better to bring back the party telephone line. Particularly in rural areas, where we struggle with equality in Internet services and solutions to "the last mile," party lines ensure that everyone is kept up-to-date. And it would make us all better people, ridding us of the temptation to gossip or spread untruths.
