Dress-up games are especially fun for kids on Halloween.

On one day out of the year, pirates, witches and vampires can all mingle at a party without anyone batting an eyelash. Halloween has long been the holiday where anyone can transform just by using creativity. If you have your own Halloween party coming up, plan some dress-up games perfect for the spooky event. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Halloween Dress-Up Relay

    • Divide the group into two teams. Line each of the teams up single-file and hand the first player in each team a costume. This can come with a mask, a cape and other items. When you say "Go," the first players quickly put the costume on and take it off, handing it to the player behind them. The costume gets put on and taken off until it comes to the end of the line. The first team to do this wins the game.

    Costume Scavenger Hunt

    • Write down costume pieces, such as "zombie mask" or "princess tiara," on separate slips of paper. Hide these items around the party space. Make enough slips so that you have three for every two players. Divide the players into pairs. Each pair pulls three papers out of a bowl. When you start the timer, the pairs search for their items. The first pair to find all three and dress one of the partners up with them wins the game.

    Creepy Makeup

    • Come up with several different costume ideas, including "cat," "vampire" and "witch." Write these ideas down on papers and put them in a bowl. Divide the group into pairs. Each person pulls out a paper. Using Halloween makeup items, the pairs have to give each other the look of the costume idea they pulled. For example, if a player pulled a paper with "clown" written on it, he has to make his partner look like a clown. The player who does the best makeover, as voted on by the group, wins the game.

    Wrapped Mummies

    • Dress your party guests up as mummies for this game. Start by dividing the players into teams of four. Hand each team a roll of toilet paper and have them designate a person to become the mummy. When you say "Go," the teams all start to wrap their mummies with toilet paper from head to toe. The first team to have its mummy completely wrapped wins the game.
