You can find golfing scholarships in colleges from California to Florida.

In 2010, according to athleticscholarships.net, 294 Division I colleges offered men's golf scholarships, with more than 2,000 men's golfing scholarships offered by programs throughout the country. The NCAA allows 4.5 scholarships per program, so competition is fierce for available spots, and, since so few scholarships are available per school, most collegiate scholarships partially fund college education so more than one student athlete can use an individual scholarship.

  1. Colleges in the Southeast

    • According to the 2011 rankings from "Golf Week," some of the best collegiate golf is played in the Southeastern Conference in the southeastern United States. The University of Alabama, Auburn University and Florida were all ranked in the top ten of "Golf Week"'s rankings, and all these programs offer scholarships. For example, at Florida you can apply for the Leon Sikes Men's Golf Endowment, administered by the athletic department. In addition to these top schools, you can find scholarships at schools such as South Carolina University, Georgia Tech, Louisiana State and the University of Arkansas.

    Colleges on the West Coast

    • Some of the top golfing programs in the nation reside on the West Coast, including UCLA, the second-ranked golfing program in 2011 as listed by "Golf Week." Through the Wooden Fund and the Bruin Legacy Endowment Program, golfers can find funding for college at UCLA. Other strong western golf programs offering scholarships include California, Stanford, San Diego State and Washington.

    Colleges in the Midwest

    • The Midwest is also a fertile area for college golfing programs, and no program in 2011 was stronger than Oklahoma State. OSU was ranked number one by "Golf Week" as the top collegiate golfing program in the nation and has consistently rated as the top program nationwide. The Cowboys offer several endowed scholarships for golf, so players have an opportunity to join this top program. Oklahoma State's main rival, Oklahoma, also provides golf scholarships as do Midwestern schools such as Ohio State, Kent Stare, Tulsa, Michigan and Purdue.

    Mid-Atlantic Colleges

    • The Mid-Atlantic region, especially in states such as Virginia and North Carolina, offers a variety of elite golf courses and collegiate golfing programs. The state of North Carolina features some top programs offering scholarships, such as Duke University, North Carolina State and the University of North Carolina. In Virginia, golfers can find endowments at Virginia and Virginia Tech.
