1970s Theme Centerpieces
If you're throwing a 1970s-themed party, whether for a birthday or just because, the decor will help to transform the look of the space and bring your party guests back in time. Don't forget to include retro-inspired centerpieces in your decor scheme that call to mind the age of disco. Does this Spark an idea?

Disco Ball Centerpiece
-
A disco ball centerpiece will certainly draw interest to your tables. Purchase inexpensive disco balls from a party supply store and glue them to a silver plastic plate to prevent them from rolling around. Alternatively, if you can't find disco balls, create your own by gluing small mirrors or silver sequins to foam balls. Place the disco balls in the center of your tables and surround them with candles. When the candles are illuminated, the light will bounce off the disco balls, casting reflections into the room.
Platform Shoes
-
Platform shoes were all the rage in the 1970s, so use them as a centerpiece for your 1970s-themed affair. Purchase platform shoes from a thrift store, or if you're a child of the '70s and you've held onto your platform shoes from the era, dig them out of your closet and put them to use. Set the shoes in the center of the table and fill them with flowers or set love beads in them and let the beads drape down the sides of the shoes.

Village People Headpieces
-
The Village People were a popular disco music group and are known not only for their songs, but for their costumes. Use replicas of the headpieces the group wore as centerpieces for your tables. Purchase inexpensive hats from a party or costume store: a cowboy, policeman, construction worker, fireman and an Indian headdress. Set the headpieces out on your tables and don't forget to play music by the group to greet your party guests.
Pop Icon Centerpieces
-
Use images of famous pop icons from the era for your table centerpieces. Print out images of different musicians and actors from the time period; John Travolta, the Bee Gees, Farrah Fawcett, "The Brady Bunch" cast and David Bowie are some examples. Set the pictures in decorative frames and arrange them on your tables. Make the centerpieces interactive by printing out quizzes related to the icons on each table and invite guests to take the quizzes while seated.
