What Are the Duties of One Who Is Confirmed?
Confirmation is an extremely important part of the Catholic faith. Most Catholics are confirmed into the Catholic Church in eighth grade, although some receive the Sacrament later in life. When a Catholic is confirmed in his faith, he chooses to become an adult member of the Catholic church. Therefore, he has certain duties to perform.

Learn to Pray
-
Prayer is a deep and spiritual connection with God. A confirmed Catholic has the duty to continue on her faith journey of becoming closer to God. One of the best ways to become closer to God is to learn how to pray effectively. Many confirmed Catholics already know how to pray. For these Catholics, participating in prayer groups, leading a prayer at a church service or convincing their family members to pray before eating dinner are all great ways to help build a closer prayer relationship with God.
Practice God's Teaching
-
Those who have been confirmed in the Catholic Church have the duty of practicing God's teachings in their everyday lives. Confirmed Catholics should attend Mass services every Sunday so that they can understand the Scripture and implement the Bible's lessons into their daily lives. Simply being a good person and teaching others about the Catholic faith and God Himself are great ways to practice God's teachings; however, confirmed Catholics should always work hard to find new ways to serve God.

Follow the Guidance of the Holy Spirit
-
Confirmation is based on the story in the Bible in which the apostles receive the Holy Spirit. In the same way, confirmation candidates receive the Holy Spirit into their lives when they participate in the Sacrament. After being confirmed, the candidate has the duty to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit in his daily life. This means that as he enters into the next phase of his life, the candidate should be open to God's will and try to follow in the path He has laid out.
Follow the Six Precepts of the Church
-
Confirmed Catholics have the duty of following the six precepts of the church. These are to go to Mass and refrain from work on Sundays, attend Reconciliation at least once a year, receive the Eucharist at least once a year, observe the traditional days of fasting and abstinence, help provide for the needs of the church to the best of their abilities and to obey the marriage laws of the church. These duties are very important for all Catholics to keep in mind and follow in their daily lives.
