Baby showers are typically celebrated with friends and family members before the birth of a new baby. During this time, gifts are often given to the soon-to-be mother to help her prepare for the baby's arrival. In return, the new mother thanks the guests for the gifts by sending a thank you card. The message inside the card usually serves two purposes: to thank guests for their attendance and to thank them for their gifts. Once these two purposes have been achieved, thanking the guests can take any shape or form.
Traditionally, soon-to-be mothers would send thank you notes to baby shower attendees to express gratitude for partaking in the celebration and to thank them for baby gifts. Thank you cards range from being as simple as a little handwritten message to customized cards with decorative embellishments to photo cards with a recent photo of the new baby. The message inside the card could be a thank you poem or a picture message in which you illustrate the gift or the baby. For instance, a hand-drawn picture of the gift + a head-drawn picture of a baby = "Thank You" with a heart or flowers drawn around the words.
Expressing gratitude doesn't always have to be in written form. If you had the baby shower celebration soon before giving birth, you may not have the time to write a thank you message to each individual that was present. An alternative is to host a potluck after the baby is born, an outdoors picnic or organize another gathering in which you can personally and verbally thank everybody for their gifts and emotional support. It also gives them the opportunity to meet your new bundle of joy and to see their gifts in action. Send them home with baby photo party favors and a simple thank you note.
Unique ideas to express gratitude include creating multiple copies of home videos or hand delivering a special gift to each guest. If the baby has been born before you had a chance to write thank you notes, use video recordings of the baby to create a CD version of a thank you message. Speak from the heart when recording the message and make sure to introduce the new baby. Hand delivering a special gift is ideal if the attendance list was relatively small. It can be personal by customizing the gift based on the seasons or special holidays. For instance, if the season is spring, send a thank you note attached to a single flower. If the holiday is Christmas, send a thank you note attached to a candy cane.
Creating a virtual thank you message is simple, saves time and is extremely cost-effective. Using online e-card websites, choose a free template that you would like to send to friends and family members. Customize the card with a personalized thank you message. Some sites allow you to upload photos and others allow you to print the cards for mailing or to save the cards in PDF format. Browse through the various templates to find one that suits you.
