The Dimensions of Roof Tiles

Roof tiles are an integral part of building design that protects the building interior from the elements. Tiles come in a variety of materials, including clay, slate, concrete, plastic and glass, which all have unique visual properties. Pantiles

Clay Pantiles are a popular styles of roof type, predominant in the majority of houses in Scotland and the east and southwest of England. The tile is well known for its ''S'' shaped profile which creates one of the most elegant roofscapes available. The standard dimensions of the roof tile is 342 mm in length, 252 mm in width and 69 mm in depth, however this may vary depending on the manufacturer.

Roman Tile

The Roman tile is most recognised for its single or double ''roll'' in the tile. The tiles are also tapered, giving the appearance of a Mediterranean style. In its concrete form, the Roman tile is used in the majority of rooftops in England. The standard dimensions of the single roll roof tile is 342 mm in length, 255 mm in width and 43 mm in depth, however this may vary depending on the manufacturer.

Traditional Slate

The traditional slate tile is made predominantly of slate and is formed so that each tile has a unique appearance. The slate roof has a striking quality due to its color. It gives buildings a high quality appearance because of this. The standard dimensions of the single roll roof tile is 510 mm in length, 255 mm in width and 6 mm in depth, however this may vary depending on the manufacturer.
