Throw a winter-themed party.

When people think of winter, many are reminded of the holiday season: white fluffy snow, warming up by the fireplace with a glass of hot cocoa, taking part in winter activities with friends and spending long days indoors with family members. If you love the winter, recreate it at any time of the year by throwing a winter-themed party. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. White Flowers and Evergreens

    • Flowers are not associated with winter, but if you want them anyway, stick with white since the color will match the decor. If you think having only white flowers seems boring, you can add bouquet jewelry to the arrangements consisting of small snowflake shapes or clear beads. Evergreen trees are associated with winter, so try to incorporate them if you can. Evergreen saplings can be used as centerpieces or small potted evergreen trees can be placed on the floor in the corners of the room. Decorate the trees with snowflake ornaments, sprinkle fake snow on the tips of the branches or wrap a string of white holiday lights around each one.

    Ice Sculptures

    • Place one or two ice sculptures on service tables, such as buffet areas, the bar and the gift table. Ice sculptures can be custom-made by a professional, or you can buy ice sculpture molds that you fill with water and place in the freezer. If you will be making your own, you will need a large stand-alone freezer to hold them all, or several volunteers to place the sculptures in their own freezers.

    Fake Snow

    • Sprinkle fake snow --- a must for winter-themed parties --- on tabletops and on the floor. Fake snow can be purchased from many party supply stores, or you can use quilt stuffing, snowflake-shaped confetti or tiny Styrofoam balls. Also, consider hanging paper or plastic snowflake ornaments on various lengths of string from the ceiling and doorways to make it seem as if it were snowing inside.

    Candles

    • Roaring fires are gathering places for many people during the winter months. Although you may not have a fireplace in your party room, you can still incorporate the cozy feel of fire by placing candles throughout the space. The candles should be predominately white, but you can add in an accent color as well, such as blue or silver. Place clusters of candles in various heights on plates and scatter them around the room and place candelabras in the middle of the guest tables or service tables for centerpieces.
