Labor Day Activities in South Carolina & Georgia
The neighboring states of Georgia and South Carolina are in the Southeast region of the United States and their cultures share similar traits, such as cuisine and leisure. On Labor Day weekend, both states host an array of parades, barbecue festivals, music concerts and beach activities on the Atlantic Coast. Most Labor Day events in Georgia and South Carolina end the festivities with an evening fireworks display.

Concerts

The Celebrate Freedom (celebratefreedomatlanta.com) outdoor concert occurs in Atlanta, Georgia's, Jim Miller Park. This one-day event features Christian music and happens on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Visitors may attend this concert for free, as of the date of this publication. After the concert, Celebrate Freedom closes the night with a fireworks display.
Boone Hall Plantation (boonehallplantation.com), located in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, hosts the annual BBQ and Bluegrass Festival. This event occurs on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Festival activities include bluegrass music concerts, barbecue and a fireworks display in the evening.
Beach

Tybee Island is on the Georgia Atlantic Coast, approximately 30 minutes east of Savannah, and hosts the annual Labor Day Beach Bash. This annual event started in 2008 and occurs on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Festival highlights include live music, beer vendors and nighttime fireworks.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, hosts the annual Beach, Boogie and BBQ festival on Friday through Sunday of Labor Day week. The first Beach, Boogie and BBQ event happened in 2006. Some event activities are a barbecue competition, arts and crafts and live music. The event happens at Valor Park.

On Labor Day weekend, the Georgia Junior Golf Tour, of GJGT, holds an annual tournament on Labor Day weekend. This tournament is a part of GJGT's summer tour, which occurs at golf courses through Georgia. As of the date of this publication, the GJGT only allows boys and girls ages 6 through 19 to participate.
The annual Hilton Head Island Celebrity Golf Tournament (hhcelebritygolf.com) happens at Hilton Head, South Carolina, on Friday through Sunday of Labor Day weekend. This tournament features celebrities from the news media, Hollywood, sports and music industries. Hilton Head's Labor Day tournament occurs at three of the city's golf courses, including the Robert Trent Jones course.
Parades

The Pioneers Day celebration takes place on Labor Day weekend in Cartersville, Georgia, located in the North Georgia Mountains. This festival hosts the annual Pioneers Day parade in the streets of downtown Cartersville; the parade features local marching bands, antique cars and cloggers.
On Labor Day Monday, Chapin, South Carolina, hosts the annual Chapin Labor Day festival parade. The parade occurs in downtown Chapin, starting and ending on Chapin Road. Chapin Labor Day festival is a three-day Labor Day weekend event with a picnic on Sunday at the Lake Murray Presbyterian Church and the Chapin Area Firefighters Appreciation Day on Saturday.
