Plan a teen birthday party outside of the home that caters to fun and excitement.

Planning a teen's birthday party can often seem daunting and expensive. Budgets large and small can work with some basic ideas to bring a group of teenagers together for a safe and fun time. Discuss what interests the birthday teen and work with theme ideas to achieve a happy birthday celebration. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Roller Rink Theme Party

    • Celebrate the next teenage year with a fully rented out roller rink. Set the tone with an assigned theme for the night; rock and roll, '80s, disco and luau themes are great for roller skating. Call a local rollerskating facility for rates and plan according to the budget. Most places rent by the hour and bigger budgets can usually reserve the entire facility for the night. Enlist some adult friends to assist in chaperoning and check with the venue for their policy on bringing in outside food and beverages.

    Hotel Party

    • Larger budgets may host a formal teen birthday affair with dancing and live music. Hotel banquet rooms are equipped with enough space to set up a band or DJ and a dance floor. Many hotels will have event planning staff who will assist in decorating, food choices and booking entertainment. Bookings typically need to be done far in advance. Call around to prospective hotel venues for price options and availability as far in advance as possible to receive the best rates. Smaller parties can book a suite for a night for a twist on the average slumber party experience.

    Spa Party

    • Call area day spa facilities to gather and compare group rate packages; cosmetology colleges often offer the best rates. Include two or three choices from a smaller specialized spa menu, such as a manicure, pedicure and facial, or massage, facial and pedicure. Call ahead to plan a lunch or dinner at the spa, many have small cafe menus, or bring in a selection of salads and sandwiches from a local deli. Plan a dessert event after the spa at a local sweet spot to finish the day with pampered indulgence.

    Limo Party

    • Rent a limo for the night to drive the teens around to different hot spots. Stock the vehicle with popular music, kiddie cocktail ingredients, snacks and disposable cameras. Start the birthday party by picking up guests in the limo and driving to a favorite dinner spot. Hop in the limo again to drive around the city, stopping for dessert and scenic spaces for pictures. End the evening with a sleepover or by dropping off each guest at their home.
