Scotch whiskey has traditionally not been a cocktail mixer. It is usually drunk neat, on the rocks or with a splash of water. But in recent years, using Scotch in a cocktail has grown in popularity. As a good quality whiskey, Scotch pairs nicely in several mixed drinks, especially cocktails with fruit juices. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Black Watch

    • Fill a cocktail shaker 2/3 full of ice and add 1 ½ oz. coffee liqueur, 1 ½ oz. Scotch whiskey and a dash of soda water. Stir thoroughly and strain into a highball glass.

    Canal Street Daisy

    • Drinkers looking for a simple Scotch-based cocktail will enjoy the Canal Street Daisy. Pour 1 oz. Scotch whiskey, ½ oz. orange juice and ½ oz. lemon juice into a Collins glass and stir well. Add a splash of club soda and garnish with an orange wedge.

    • For a fruity drink, try the Loch Ness mystery. Shake ¾ oz. Scotch whiskey, a dash orange liqueur, ¼ oz. apricot brandy, ¼ oz. lime juice and 2 oz. grapefruit juice with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a Collins glass filled with crushed ice and garnish with a lime slice.

    • The Slippery Surprise cocktail is a drink full of tropical flavor and is an excellent choice for those who want a strong morning drink. Shake 1 ½ oz. Scotch whiskey, ½ oz. crème de bananes, 2 oz. grapefruit juice, 2 oz. peach juice and ½ oz. passion-fruit juice in a cocktail shaker fill with crushed ice. Pour unstrained into a wine goblet and garnish with an orange or lemon wedge.
