Candle Store Decorating Ideas
Candles are used for different purposes. Many homeowners keep them in the house in case of a power outage, but candles are also used to add decorative, colorful and romantic flair to an otherwise plain space. A small grouping of candles can catch the eye and bring drama to a room. According to the National Candle Association, 70 percent of American households use candles. Retailers can take advantage of this fact with enticing displays that show off exactly how best to use them.

Rainbow Colors
-
Showcase the varied candle colors available. Turn a corner of the store into a vivid rainbow of subtle shades. Gather candles by color, and place shelving against a wall. Group the candles following the colors of a standard rainbow. Start with red, and continue with orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. Within each color group, arrange the candles from the lightest to the darkest shade.
Scented Spaces
-
Many candles give off a scent as they burn. Buyers look for candles that can add a soft undertone of lavender or patchouli to any room. Pick out candles with highly popular fragrances. Arrange each candle next to the scent it evokes. For example, if the candle smells like pine, place an evergreen branch in a pot. Surround the pot with the pine-scented candles and pine cones.

Accessorize
-
Bring in accessories. For safety reasons, many candle are placed in a candlestick shape, which can come in many shapes and forms. Create a display using several different types of candlesticks. Take a round table at least 1 ft. in diameter. Top with a tablecloth that completely covers the table, and place tiered shelving on the table. Use larger candlesticks on the bottom and smaller candlesticks on the top. Place a chandelier with candles directly on top of the table.
Go Seasonal
-
Use a rotating seasonal display, as candles can be used for different purposes during each season. During Christmas, candles are popularly used to add additional light to welcome guests. Help customers envision how they can use candles in their own homes by creating a display that incorporates seasonal elements. Place a floral wreath on the wall, and add ribbons, tinsel and candles in a contrasting shade. Hang votives with candles inside in a row just under the wreath.
Add Artwork
-
Place posters on the wall with important facts about candles. Include facts that may be of interest to buyers, such as how to use candles safely in one's home and the history of candles. You can buy posters or ask local artists to make individualized versions for your store.
