Simple Proposal Ideas

The day and the way that you propose to your future wife will remain engraved in her mind for the rest of your lives together. Many people opt for elaborate, complicated proposals, but you don't have to follow the crowd. If you and your girl have a quiet, solid, non-showy relationship, you might prefer a simple, romantic proposal that she will look back on fondly.

Proposal via Puppy

  • If your future fiancee loves animals and has been dropping hints that she'd like to get a pet with you, this is a cute idea to fulfill her wish. Conduct research with her friends and family to find out what her favorite kind of dog (or cat) is. Don't mention that you are going to propose, or your secret may slip before you are ready. Pick up your new puppy (or kitten) and buy it a collar. Before you show your girl your new pet, buy a personalized name tag that reads, "Will you marry me?" Bring the puppy home to surprise her, and mention that you hope she likes the name you picked. When she goes to look at the tag, kneel down behind her back, hold up the ring and wait to see the look on her face.

Little Love Notes

  • Most women will swoon for a romantic scavenger hunt. Pieces of chocolate make great anchors for little notes that tell your girl all of the things that you love about her. Trace the path to the next piece of chocolate and note with red, pink and white rose petals. At the end of her "journey," leave a final piece of chocolate. This love note should be tied so that the ring is concealed within the note. When she opens the last note, "Will you marry me?" should be accented with the engagement ring.

A Good Start

  • This proposal idea is a little more complex than chocolates and puppies, but it will make a very special impact. Plan a weekend trip to a destination she's been dying to see. That could be as close as her parent's house for the weekend or as far as the Bahamas. After a night of good sleep, wake up a little bit early and kiss her awake. With ring in hand, tell her how much she means to you, and that you'd like to wake up to her every morning for the rest of your life. Present the ring and ask her to marry you—for a great start to her day and a very good morning.

A Ring...Pop?

  • This proposal is great for a couple who has a great sense of humor. Take her out to dinner at an elegant restaurant and tell her you have a surprise for her. Unwrap a candy ring pop, and tell her that it will change colors if she just closes her eyes. Hopefully, she will humor you and close her eyes as you slip the real ring on her finger. Cover her hand with yours so the ring is covered as you ask her to marry you. She'll think that you are still kidding around, until you remove your hand and she sees the real ring.
