Cool After Prom Ideas
It's spring, and that means it's prom season. While your high schooler is anticipating a fun and magical dance, you, as the parent, are worrying about the stigma that comes with after-prom events. You want to be the cool parent and make sure your teen has the time of her life, but it's important to educate her on being safe, too. Encourage and offer funding for alternatives to the common after-prom partying to avoid risky behavior.

Host a Party
-
Party decorations are encouraged but are not necessary for your after-prom party. Host a party at your home to ensure that your teen has a fun and safe night. Remove all liquor from the home and do not let the teens stray out of the home. Keep bedroom doors closed to reduce the chances of inappropriate behavior. Rent or purchase a karaoke machine for entertainment. Make room for a dance floor and have party guests sing and dance the night away. Prepare nonalcoholic cocktails and appetizers for guests.
Cosmic Bowling
-
Bowling games will keep teens entertained after the prom. According to the website for the bowling alley Bowl-O-Rama, cosmic bowling is glow-in-the-dark bowling with a dance club atmosphere. At many bowling alleys, cosmic or nighttime bowling is generally offered on weekends. Call a bowling alley near you in advance to be sure that it offers cosmic or nighttime bowling and that it will be offered the night of prom. Reserve some lanes for your son and his friends if you can.

Late-night Breakfast
-
Prom dates will enjoy spending time with each other sharing a meal. After all the dancing at the prom, you child and her friends will work up an appetite. A 24-hour restaurant is a good choice for dining after the prom, and many of these eateries will serve breakfast all day long. The restaurant will also have other menu choices to accommodate everyone. Staying dressed up longer will be fun for teens who have spent much time preparing their outfits for the night. Your child and her friends will enjoy dining over conversations about the fun they had at the prom.
Amusement Park
-
The beautiful outdoor scenery of the park is enjoyable during the spring. Organize a group including your child and his friends to purchase tickets to an amusement park for the day following the prom. Amusement parks are fun and exciting for teens. The rides offer a thrilling experience that can be shared by a group of friends. The benefit of your child going to an amusement park is that the park is supervised. Illegal behavior such as drinking is not allowed on the park grounds.
