The CTS made its debut as a four-door sedan in Cadillac's annual line for the 2002 model year and remains there as of 2011. The 2011 CTS is the first to be offered as a two-door sports coupe. The sedan and coupe are both offered at the base and V trim levels. The V models differ from the base models in many ways.
The base CTS sedan features a 3-liter V6 engine with 270 horsepower at 7,000 rpm. This engine produces 223 foot-lb. of torque at 5,700 rpm and has a compression ratio of 11.7 to 1. The base coupe has a 3-liter engine with horsepower of 304 at 6,400 rpm and 273 foot-lb. of torque at 5,200 rpm. The compression ratio is 11.3 to 1. The V models have a 6.2-liter -8 engine with 556 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and a compression ratio of 9.1 to 1. Engine torque is 551 foot-lb. at 3,800 rpm.
The sedan models are 191.3 inches long, 72.5 inches wide and 58 inches tall. The coupes are 188.5 inches tall, 74.1 inches wide and 56 inches tall. The V sedan has a front track of 62 inches, while the base sedan and coupe models have a 61.8-inch front track. The rear track is 62.2 inches for the base sedan, 62.1 inches for the V sedan and 62.8 inches for the coupes.
All CTS trim levels take regular or premium unleaded fuel. The base sedan gets 16 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The base coupe gets 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Both the V sedan and V coupe get 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.
The base sedan has a subwoofer for added bass in the sound system, while the other trim levels do not. A DVD player is standard for the V trim levels, optional for the base sedan and not available for the base coupe. The navigational system only comes with the V models, and real wood accents are optional only for the V models. Heated front seats are not available for the base sedan, but come standard with the base coupe and V models. Leather seats only come with the two V trim levels.
