Specifications of a Fel-Pro Torque
Gaskets help prevent leaks by sealing "leak paths" and filling in gaps between where fluids flow. Fel-Pro gaskets do not need to be torqued twice if the proper amount of torque is applied to them the first time. Fel-Pro gaskets are used on many different brands of vehicles and you should have the correct specifications for the model and brand of your car before you begin to fasten the gasket.

Ford

The Ford Focus used a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with eight valves from 2000 to 2003. On this engine, you should tighten the Fel-Pro gasket bolts with 37 foot-pounds of torque in step one, loosen it 1/2 inch in step two, apply 37 foot-pounds of torque in step three, and turn the bolts 90 degrees twice in steps four and five. The Ford Excursion and Explorer used a 4.6-liter eight-cylinder engine with 16 valves from 1997 to 2004. On this engine, you should tighten the Fel-Pro gasket bolts with 27 to 32 foot-pounds of torque in step one, and turn the bolts 85 to 95 degrees twice for steps two and three.
Honda
-
Honda used a 3.47-liter six-cylinder engine with 24 valves on some of its cars from 1999 to 2003. The Fel-Pro gasket bolts used on this engine were tightened with 29 foot-pounds of torque in step one, 51 foot-pounds of torque in step two and 72.3 foot-pounds of torque in step three. Honda used a 2.26-liter four-cylinder engine with 16 valves from 2002 to 2004. The Fel-Pro gasket bolts used on this engine are tightened with 22 foot-pounds of torque in step one and 90 degrees of torque twice for steps two and three. You should tighten the bolts with 90 degrees of torque again if the bolts are new.

Volvo has a 2.44-liter five-cylinder engine with 20 valves that was used from 1997 to 2003 on Volvo vehicles. The Fel-Pro gasket bolts on the five-cylinder engine were tightened with 15 foot-pounds of torque in step one, 44 foot-pounds of torque in step two and 130 degrees of torque in step three. Volvo also used a 2.78-liter six-cylinder engine with 24 valves from 1999 to 2003. The bolts on the Fel-Pro gasket for this engine were tightened with 15 foot-pounds of torque in step one, 44 foot-pounds of torque in step two and 130 degrees of torque in step three.
Nissan
-
Nissan used a 2.39-liter four-cylinder engine with 16 valves from 1991 to 2003. The Fel-Pro gasket bolts on this engine should be tightened 22 foot-pounds of torque in step one, 59 foot-pounds of torque in step two and all bolts should be loosened in step three. Eighteen to 25 foot-pounds of torque should be applied in step four and 55 to 62 foot-pounds of torque should applied in step five. Some Nissan cars had a 3.27-liter six-cylinder engine with 12 valves from 1996 to 2003. The bolts on the Fel-Pro gasket for the engine are tightened with 22 foot-pounds of torque in step one, 43 foot-pounds of torque in step two, and all bolts should be loosened in step three. Step four requires 7 foot-pounds of torque, step five requires 22 foot-pounds of torque and step six requires 40 to 47 foot-pounds of torque.
