Keep charade idea cards handy and add to it when you think of a good idea.

Looking for a fun and inviting game to play with your family, friends or with children? Charades is a low-cost and creative game that will be sure to get players involved. Use Charades to remember significant milestones in your relationship, favorite events, movies or songs. The great thing is that there is no time limit or limit on the amount of people who can play. Write your ideas down on cards and keep them handy for an impromptu game of Charades.

  1. Family Charades Ideas

    • Give each person in the family a chance to act out a favorite family event that happened during the past year and have the rest of the family guess. Work in teams such as girls and boys or adults vs. children. Choose a prize for the winning team. Try using places you have visited or lived, vacations you have taken or gifts you have received for your charade games. Keep track of the items chosen for the game and make a memory book together.

    Adult Charades Ideas

    • Make charade cards a bit more difficult for adults by having them act out a phrase such as "Have your cake and eat it too," "You made your bed now lie in it" or "What goes around, comes around." Use themes such as movies or books. Try using the names of famous singers, actors, politicians or artists and vary the themes by time periods, gender or country. Create cards for well-known events in history for a bonus round.

    Children Charades Ideas

    • Design cards with pictures for charades for young children who may not be able to read. Use animals such as emu, koala, moose, wolf or lightning bugs. Think with your stomach and use foods like spaghetti and meatballs, smoothies, corn dogs or mushrooms. Try using the names of places the children like to go or are familiar with such as a favorite park, beach or amusement park. Steer clear of using people's names with children when playing charades so you do not inadvertently hurt someone's feelings.

    Religious-Themed Charades Ideas

Use religious figure names for Charades such as Jesus, Moses, Mohammad, Ganesh, Confucius or Buddha. Mix up the names with famous places such as heaven, the Garden of Eden, Mecca, a mosque, temple or church. Use famous stories such as the Bhagavad Gita, Noah's Arc or Jallut. Create a charade card with a religious holiday such as the Festival of Lights, Christmas, Eid, Diwali or Nineteen Day Feast. Mix and match religions for a more diverse game of Charades.
