There are many different types of shoes designed to increase the wearer's height. Some of these shoes obviously raise the wearer's height while others provide less obvious or invisible height raises. Shoes that increase height can generally do so by a few inches. In some extreme instances shoes can raise height by several inches, though they may not be constructed to be worn comfortably for long periods of time.
High-heeled shoes are one of the most common types of footwear that increase the height of the wearer. These shoes provide the height increase by placing a raised heel in the shoe. High-heeled shoes are most easily accessible to women with a wide variety of heights and styles available. There are a limited amount of high-heeled shoes that are manufactured for men. These shoes typically have a lower heel than those available to women.
Wedge shoes are primarily manufactured for women. These shoes have a solid, raised base that can provide a few inches of extra height to the wearer. Wedge shoes are built in much the same way as high-heeled shoes but are more stable. There is very often an increase in the weight of wedge shoes because of the thick, solid sole of the shoe.
Platform shoes are a combination of high-heeled shoes with a raised section of sole located under the ball of the foot. The platform area can either be located on the outside of the shoe or can be a covered platform, meaning that the platform is inside the shoe, making it less obtrusive. Platform shoes incorporate the use of high heels to provide balance to the shoe. These shoes can increase height by several inches and are mainly produced for women.
Elevator shoes can add a few inches of height to the wearer. These shoes provide a lifted inner sole to discreetly add height. They are most commonly made as boots and sneakers, making them available to both men and women. Because elevator shoes are a specialty item, they may need to be purchased online or through a specialized boutique store.
Cowboy boots can add up to 2 inches to the wearer's height. Cowboy boots use a small, elevated heel that both increases height and can also be functional. These boots are very popular with both men and women and are available in a wide variety of sizes and fabrics. Cowboy boots are typically constructed out of leather and are fashionable as well as durable.
